Switch from Strong without losing your history
Bring years of Strong sessions with you, sets and personal records included.
How to export from Strong
- Open Strong and go to Settings.
- On iPhone choose "Export Strong Data". On Android choose "Export Data".
- Send the CSV to yourself through the share sheet.
- Upload the file here.
- Strong has shipped several different CSV layouts over the years. All of the ones we have seen in the wild are read correctly, so an old export is fine.
- Some older Strong files record no unit at all. If yours is one of them, we ask you which unit you were lifting in rather than guessing.
What comes across
• Every session, grouped by its start time
• Every set: weight, reps and RPE where your export recorded it
• Cardio entries with distance and time
• Session and per-set notes
What your export cannot carry
• Strong exports carry no warm-up marker, so every set arrives as a working set. You can edit any of them afterwards.
• Superset grouping is not present in the file, so sets arrive in the order they were logged.
Every one of these is a property of the export file itself, not a guess. Anything the file does not contain is reported to you in the preview rather than filled in.
What imported data counts for
Your history, personal records, charts and analytics come with you. Ranks, XP and achievements are earned here, so imported sessions never move them.
That line is the whole deal, and it is deliberate. A rank anyone can produce with a spreadsheet is worth nothing, so ranks, XP, achievements, streaks and leaderboards are driven only by what you log here. Everything that describes your training rather than scoring it, which is your history, your personal records, your charts and your analytics, uses your imported data from day one.
How the import works
Upload a CSV file and nothing is written yet. You get a preview first: how many rows of each kind, the date range they cover, which names matched automatically, and which need a decision from you.
When you approve it, the rows are written and stamped as part of that import. If a day already has an entry you made yourself, your own entry wins and the imported row is skipped, and the skip is counted and shown rather than quietly dropped.
Changed your mind? One button removes every row that import created and leaves everything else alone. You can upload the same file again months later too. Rows that already exist are skipped instead of duplicated, so you only ever gain what is new.
Your file, and how long we keep it
The uploaded file is stored privately for a short retention window so an import can be retried, then deleted. Undo keeps working after that, because it is keyed to the import rather than the file. Your account holds the data, and you can export it or delete your account at any time.
Frequently asked
- My export looks different from a friend’s. Will it still work?
- Yes. The file is read by inspecting its own header row rather than assuming a fixed layout, which is why several generations of Strong export all import.
- What happens to my personal records?
- They come across, because a personal record is derived from your logged sets rather than stored separately. Once the import finishes, your best lifts and progression charts include your Strong history.
- Can I undo an import?
- Yes. Every row an import writes is stamped with that import, so one button removes all of it and leaves anything you logged yourself untouched. You can also upload the same file again later. Rows that already exist are skipped rather than duplicated.
