MuscleBuddy 101: What's Where and Why

A quick orientation to the app — what Plan, Train, Nutrition, Health, and Community actually do, and how they connect.

MuscleBuddy does a lot — training, nutrition, health tracking, coaching, and a social layer, all in one app. That breadth is the point, but it also means the first few minutes can feel like a lot to take in. This guide is the map.

Plan

Your program lives here — the training split you're following, the current phase (e.g. a hypertrophy block followed by a deload), and any upcoming phase transitions. If you don't have a program yet, this is where you generate or pick one.

Train

This is the day-to-day: logging sets and reps, seeing your exercise history, progress photos, and your muscle rank. Whatever progression method your program uses — double progression, linear, RPE-based, or a custom scheme — adjusts your working weights here automatically as you log.

Start here

If you only explore one tab today, make it Train — it's where the app actually earns its keep session to session.

Nutrition

Your macro targets, food logging, and weigh-in tracking. Targets aren't set once and forgotten — they auto-adjust on a rolling basis as your weigh-in trend comes in, so a stall or an unexpectedly fast change gets corrected without you doing the math yourself.

Health

The free health hub: daily check-ins, recovery score, and (for compound or bloodwork tracking) the deeper health protocols. Everyone gets check-ins and recovery — the more advanced health tooling unlocks as you need it.

Community

Classes, the AI coach chat (if you're on a coaching plan), challenges, and the social feed. This is also where a human coach — if you have one — sees your data and can override anything the automated system suggests.
